Between 15th and 17th September 2011, the Advanced Trauma Life Support for Doctors (ATLS) Provider Course is due to cover the core procedures used for helping people with trauma cases. As part of the programme doctors will be told what the key indicators are to look for and what initial assessments should be made when a patient is first brought into their care.
The course covers the complete process from the primary assessment, beginning at the injury and then factoring in further liabilities. The next stages will cover the initial treatment, possible interventions that may need to be made if life is threatened as well as re-evaluations and stabilisation treatments.
To teach each of these methods the programme uses theory based lectures and then doctors are given practical exercises where they’ll be able to operate on models of patients.
Methods include trauma in the spine, head and abdomen, as well as burn victims and paediatric trauma. Life saving procedures will also show the actions that need to be taken if airways are blocked and how to monitor fluid resuscitation.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The course will be almost fully booked with doctors as it presents so many important techniques. Cheap Fujairah hotels around the Fujairah hospital where it’s being held will be overtaken with attendees and therefore reservations will definitely be needed."
