Is a Sales Objection an Obstacle or an Opportunity?

Things have changed in sales. It wasn’t many years ago that we talked about overcoming sales objections. A prospect would say to a salesperson, “…but you have no customers in my industry.” Or perhaps, “…but the price is too high.” (What they are really saying is “I’d buy your product, but…”) The salesperson was taught that objections were good—that they showed interest on the part of the buyer, and that these objections had to be gracefully overcome to win the sale. When you’ve been selling for a while, you learn that these objections very often become the reason you lose. Then the word overcome takes on a new meaning. It connotes contention—the prospect has a concern or an issue and you’ve somehow got to convince them (or overpower them) to win the sale.

Limoges launches Webdesign International Festival 2006

The Webdesign International Festival 2006, held in Limoges, in central France, will host three days of international competitions, lectures, debates, demonstrations, exhibitions and meetings focusing on interactive, web-based design from 2 to 4 February 2006. The University of Limoges is also setting up a training course in web-design skills. The first 20 candidates for the diploma in ‘Sensorial web design and online creation strategies’ will begin their studies this October.

ERAI of Rhône-Alpes at cutting-edge in renewable energies

The Rhône-Alpes region of South-Eastern France has just been awarded the Pole of Competitiveness status concerning New Energy Technologies by the French government, which recognises the region’s leading position in Europe in the field. For its part, ERAI (the region’s international business development agency) successfully invited buyers and experts to take part in the Renewable Energies Trade Fair 2005 in Lyons last April. The next fair will be held in 2007. The Rhône-Alpes regional authority set up the Renewable Energies and Energy Conservation Cluster initiative in 2004, which is part of the region’s drive towards promoting energy-efficient solutions and towards protecting the environment.
