AYR 800 ploughs a historic furrow

A HORSE ploughing competition is to be held at Greenan Farm, Doonfoot, Ayrshire, as part of this year’s Ayr 800 celebrations. It will be held this Sunday, 28 August, beginning at 10am and ending around 4.30pm.

SOMMET DE L’ELEVAGE has presidential approval

The SOMMET DE L’ELEVAGE, Europe's leading trade fair for beef producers, will be inaugurated by French President Jacques Chirac. There are 70,000 visitors expected at this year’s event, which will be held at the Grande Halle d’Auvergne show ground, in Clermont Ferrand (France) from 6 to 8 October 2005. The event already has a full complement of 750 exhibitors – a 7% increase on last year's fair – and 1,500 animals.

SPACE 2005 to offer innovation in breeding techniques

The SPACE 2005 trade fair will play host to the cattle (dairy and meat), pig, poultry and rabbit-breeding sectors, both French and international, from 13 to 16 September 2005. The event will be held in Rennes, in north-west France, in one of Europe’s major multi-species breeding zones. The Innov’ Space area will present the latest technological innovations in the sector.

Alsace wines steal the show at London Wine Fair

The Chamber of Commerce of Strasbourg will be present at the London International Wine and Spirits Fair between 17 and 19 May 2005, accompanied by eight wine producers from Alsace. On the morning of 17 May, FTPB’s Press Officer will also be present along with Mr Thierry Fritsch. Visitors are invited to attend a tasting at 11 o’clock, when they will have the opportunity to sample a wide range of fine terroir wines and cheeses from the region as well as, later in the day at 3 o’clock, some older vintages, in the company of experts and the producers themselves.
