Evan Liu of Feldman Shepherd Elected Co-Chair of the Community Outreach Committee of the Asian Pacif

Evan Y. Liu, M.D., J.D., of the Philadelphia personal injury law firm of Feldman, Shepherd, Wohlgelernter, Tanner, Weinstock & Dodig has been elected Co-chair of the Community Outreach Committee of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania. Dr. Liu is also an active member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Pennsylvania Association for Justice (formerly the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association), the Philadelphia Bar Association and the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association.

"I am pleased to serve in a leadership capacity of a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of its members and the Asian American community," said Dr. Liu. "The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania encompasses a wide-reaching network of Asian Pacific American attorneys in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey, providing education, networking and advocacy opportunities for its members and the communities they serve." He said, "The Community Outreach committee is committed to assisting the Asian community at large with legal issues including access to legal assistance, victims' assistance, immigration issues, and other business and community needs."

The Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Pennsylvania (APABA-PA) is an affiliate of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA); as such, APABA-PA members are also NAPABA members. Comprised of attorneys, judges, law professors and law students, NAPABA monitors legislative and judicial developments, promotes Asian Pacific American political leadership, advocates for equal education and workplace opportunities and provides a national network for its members and affiliates.

Dr. Liu is a 2006 graduate of the Widener University School of Law where he is currently a guest lecturer addressing topics such as the MCARE and Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor acts, patient safety, medical malpractice and errors and the effects of malpractice litigation on physician behavior.

Prior to being admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Dr. Liu practiced emergency medicine in the Delaware Valley for 15 years. He was also a board certified family practitioner, the assistant director of Delaware County Memorial Hospital’s emergency department and a clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine at Hahnemann University Hospital.
