Pat Carey T.D., Minister at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs today announced that the Caring for Carers West Clare Group has been allocated €5,031 while Kilrush Family Resource Centre will receive €4,441.
The Scheme encourages and assists the community’s support for older people by means of community-based grants to improve the safety and security of its older members.
Welcoming the funding allocation, Clare T.D. and Minister Tony Killeen said: "This funding will be put towards the cost of installing monitored personal alarm systems, monitored smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, external security lighting and other ancillary items of physical security equipment."
"The ethos of the Scheme is centred on continued involvement with older people within our communities and I wish to congratulate the many organisations across Clare who continue to promote and foster community activity at local level", he added.
The Scheme of Community Support for Older People is funded, managed and administered by the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs with the support of local community and voluntary organisations working with older people. The Department is scheduled to introduce a revised Scheme in the coming weeks.
The full list of beneficiaries is available on the Department’s website at www.pobail.ie.
