Edexcel endorses teachers’ e-learning

A series of teacher training programmes have been developed by Echelon Learning. Implementing Teaching Best Practice has been endorsed by educational awarding body Edexcel.

The ‘Implementing Teaching Best Practice’ series constitutes interactive, intranet-based teaching and learning modules that use video to highlight examples of best practice in teaching and learning.

The materials are suitable for both new lecturers needing to acquire new skills and for existing teachers as part of their continuous professional development (CPD) and are designed to help all users develop lesson planning, management and delivery skills.

They address issues such as achieving effective differentiation, managing classroom behaviour, managing punctuality and attendance, integrating key skills into the curriculum, and making effective use of ILT.

The materials are suitable for team discussions, reflective practice, independent and active learning. They can be used for curriculum team meetings, college planning and development days, area learning days, centre days and cross-college days and by advanced practitioners for 1:1 support.

Evaluation takes place in a variety of ways including evaluation forms, informal feedback from lecturers, CTLs, HoDs, advanced practitioners and senior management teams and from the number of hits to each programme recorded.

"Edexcel are leading the way in e-learning with flexible and accessible courses, and are using technology to cut bureaucracy by spearheading online marking and administration," says Edexcel qualifications developer Jane Boehm.

"These are really good materials that complement the development of our new teacher training programme," she adds.

"The series delivers day-to-day scenarios that anyone facing a classroom can benefit from and the fact they are video-based makes them all the more realistic and credible."

‘Implementing Teaching Best Practice’ is available for licensing at £600 per programme or £3,000 for all six. Further details from Hugh Garai at Echelon Learning on 0208 568 1500 or email hugh@echelonL.com
