The hospitality sector in Zurich is gearing up for an invasion of fans of the best loved band for their concert at the Ernst Happel Stadium in the city. After the cancellation of the US part of the tour due to Bono’s hospitalisation and surgery caused major disappointment, fans are expected to flock to the European dates in their thousands.
The concert is set for 30 August, and the stadium can hold 49,000 spectators. U2’s appearances are regularly a sellout and the band’s recent release is proving highly successful. The city is popular with tourists, and rooms in cheap Vienna hotels will be hard to come by around the concert date unless booked well in advance.
Ernst Happel Stadium is located east of the city centre near the Danube River, and is well connected to the rest of the city by public transport. However, fans requiring rooms close to the stadium may be out of luck.
Tickets and priority packages for the show can be booked through a link on U2’s website, and are still available at present. Hotel rooms in the area should be booked well in advance.
Brand leader DirectRooms.com’s marketing head, Lek Boonlert, comments, "Major concerts by famous bands always result in the shortage of nearby hotel accommodation and suggests early booking as a solution."
