British Airways is helping travellers celebrate the 75th anniversary of Newcastle International Airport with a special return fare on its flights between Newcastle and Heathrow.
British Airways is offering a return flight to London (http://www.britishairways.com/travel/flights-to-london/public/en_gb ) Heathrow for just £1 (subject to availability) which, with taxes/fees and charges means that the total paid by passengers will be only £75.
The special promotional return fare, which is now being made available from both Newcastle and Heathrow, will remain on sale until Sunday 1st August in order to coincide with an open day at Newcastle International Airport to commemorate the event.
Customers wanting to take advantage of the special fare will be able to travel between 1st and 30th November 2010.
The celebrations will also provide a unique opportunity for one of British Airways long-haul captains to fly into his home-town airport.
Captain Stephen Wright, who normally flies passengers between Heathrow and world-wide destinations such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Los Angeles, will take the controls of one of the airline's 57 Boeing 747-400 aircraft for the short flight between Heathrow and Newcastle on Monday morning.
The 291-seater "jumbo" jet will operate as the BA1326, one of British Airways six daily scheduled flights between Newcastle (http://www.britishairways.com/travel/flights-to-newcastle/public/en_gb ) and Heathrow's Terminal 5. It is due to touch down at Newcastle International Airport at 11.10am. The aircraft will then operate as the BA1327 with a scheduled departure time of 12.30pm.
British Airways offers hotels in Newcastle (http://www.britishairways.com/travel/hotels-in-newcastle/public/en_gb ) as well as an extensive collection of hotels in London (http://www.britishairways.com/travel/hotels-in-london/public/en_gb ) like the new 4-star Park Plaza Westminster Bridge or the luxurious 5-star Savoy, due to re-open in the autumn after a £200 million refurbishment, to suit all customers and budgets, perfect for a city break in the capital in time for some pre-Christmas shopping or a weekend to the theatre.
