DBI consulting has had a strong year hosting several Business and Enterprise Architecture Community (BEACoP) meetings. . The first BEACoP of 2010 took place at the Doubletree Hotel, Minneapolis Park Place on February 2nd. Vitaly Shtulman, enterprise data architect and manager of the Enterprise Integration team at National Marrow Donor Program spoke on Business Event Based Integration.
Shtulman explained considerations, challenges, and success factors associated with implementing enterprise integration infrastructure based on business events. As part of the few who have accomplished the integration infrastructure, Shtulman commented on his experience of speaking at the BEACoP meeting. "I found it empowering to educate and converse with fellow business leaders on a topic like integration infrastructure that has the ability to impact business immensely."
Tom Gaughran, IT Director at Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, is an advocate and regular attendee of BEACoP meetings that take place during the year. Finding the BEACoP meetings "very enlightening from a variety of angles," Gaughran brought up four advantages when asked about BEACoP meetings: "1. The key note speaker typically is presenting topics that are current for system’s development professionals. 2. The questions/comments from attendees always spark more discussion and sometimes alternatives to the key note speakers approach. 3. Typically DBI is offering up an approach that is ‘cutting edge’ find that very stimulating to consider 4. There are few opportunities today where you can network with industry leading professionals and catch a great appetizer all in one shot."
DBI plans to host their next BEACoP meeting on September 28, 2010. David Pacheco, Enterprise Architect Manager at the Walt Disney Company will be presenting on "Balancing Practical and Conceptual Architecture."
