Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is being performed by an experienced cast of actors taking to the stage to perform one of the world’s favourite musicals.

Visitors can expect to be entertained by some of South Africa’s best musicians and singers during the two hour performance which will feature colourful set designs and wardrobes. As with other versions of the musical this production will feature almost no dialogue with the story being narrated through a series of songs.

The story of Joseph and his coat of many colours is taken from a passage from the Hebrew Bible’s Book of Genesis and the musical version of the story was originally written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice back in 1968.

The pair were asked to write a musical for the Colet Court, St Paul’s Junior School in London and the show was such a success that it was transformed and grew to encompass West End and Broadway shows. Productions now feature in theatres around the world with a number of famous actors and singers, such as Jason Donovan and Donny Osmond, taking on the lead role of Joseph.

Joseph fans staying in a hotel Cape Town can catch the performance on five different dates from 11th to 15th October 2010 at the Bergkroon Faith Centre in the legislative capital. Tickets cost 100 to 200 South African Rand.
