Which one do you like: Sex or religion or how about both?

In April it was announced that Andrew Hanna, producer at At Hand Productions, would begin working on a production that would place two of humanity’s oldest subjects on the couch: sex and religion. Today he announces that the libretto is complete and he is set to begin working on the music. The current projection for completion of the music is set for the end of 2005.

Since then At Hand Productions and Andrew Hanna have received inquires about Erotica and the nature of the piece. "Many who ask about Erotica wonder if this has anything to do with the increasing Christian conservative movement in America, I usually tell them that is partly why Erotica was created. It’s almost impossible today not to hear something that is not related to or connected to religious conservatism. I feel that Americans should realize that we all have a right to say what we want without being attacked for what we believe in."

When asked about specifics on Erotica Hanna said, "Erotica explores sex and religion from a historical and current viewpoints. There is something in the production for everyone. Audiences can expect to see issues dealing with sex relations, but marriage, conservative Christian ideologies, and there is a section that deals with the church’s secrets."

In the end, people will have to wait to see Erotica in its completed form. When Erotica will debut is uncertain, but regardless of where or when Erotica debut it guarantees it will have people talking about religion, sex, and there personal understanding on the topics at hand.

Andrew Hanna began his professional development in 1998 when he went to the conservatory in Philadelphia, PA. While at the conservatory, Hanna developed a unique way of creating performance art that placed him on the vanguard. Since graduating from UARTS in 2002 with a BM, Andrew has continued pushing and developing new productions in performance art. He recently completed My Journal. A operatic production that explores the psychological depths of Janice whom is sentenced to death. In addition to Hanna’s productions and compositions, he founded At Hand Productions in 2005.
