npower and Bristol City goalkeeper David James have just launched the npower First Cap scheme, which rewards children attending their first ever npower Football League match.

Any young fan making their first visit to a League club this season can get their very own cap, and have their photo taken on the pitch before the game.

James - who has been capped 53 times by England - joined youngsters at Ashton Gate to give the caps a head start.

He said: "It's vital clubs do everything in their power to work with local communities to get the next generation of fans down to watch their local team on a regular basis.

"There are 72 Football League clubs around the country, each with great facilities for youngsters and parents.

"The npower First Cap scheme - thought up by our chairman here at Bristol City - is a fantastic way to give something to the youngsters with which to remember their first game and hopefully make them want to come again and again."

npower head of sponsorship Emma Collins added: "We are urging any parents who haven't taken their children to a game to register with npower and make their first match extra special.

"There is a huge amount of top npower Football League action over the Christmas period, so it's a great time for parents and kids to see their local team in action."
