Children's Art Classes Offered at the Foundry Art Centre

ST. LOUIS – Two new hands-on student art class series will be offered at the Foundry Art Centre on North Main in Historic St. Charles. In "Adventures in Art," participants will explore and experiment with two-dimensional and three-dimensional media. "Exploring the Masters" will take students step-by-step through the creative process using a famous master painter as a guide.

"Adventures in Art" is a six-week series designed for students 8 to 12 years old. Topics include collage, painting, printmaking, sculpture, fibers and drawing. The sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Six-week sessions begin August 24, October 5, and November 16, and cost for each six-week session is $95 for non-members of the Foundry Art Centre and $85 for members. All supplies are included.

Students ages 10 to 14 will learn the techniques of master impressionists, expressionists, cubists and sculptors at the "Exploring the Masters" four-week series. Each Saturday workshop will feature a particular style of painting or sculpting. Workshops are scheduled August through December and cost is $60 each for non-members of the Foundry Art Centre and $54 each for members. A four-session series costs $195 for members and $215 for non-members. All supplies are included.

The Foundry Art Centre is a fine arts gallery overlooking the Missouri River at 520 North Main Center, in the Frenchtown district of Historic St. Charles. The Foundry features a Smithsonian-caliber art gallery hosting juried exhibitions plus 20 working artist studios where visitors can watch the creative process and buy art directly from the artists.
