The progress meeting will be organised by GBI and WIP. Along with the meeting, there will be an internal conference meant only for the participants of the Global-Bio-Pact consortium.
The Global-Bio-Pact programme aims to collect information and opinions on the socio-economic impacts of biomass production and conversion, as well as on the use of biomass for bioproducts aside from just transport fuels.
The project hosts meetings, such as the second progress meeting coming up in March, in order to target its specific objectives. These include identifying and analysing the socio-economic impacts of different biomass feedstock, biofuels, and products.
The organisation also hopes to review the trading schemes currently in place for biofuels and products. Public perception is another key concern of the group, who looks at the impacts of these emerging technologies on the countries and people who work or live with them.
The group hopes to develop a set of socio-economic sustainability criteria and indicators that will be part of a larger certification scheme. The result, they hope, will be sustainability schemes that are conducive to trade, integrated and have minimal negative impacts on the environment and society.
This second progress meeting will examine many of those goals and strategies and analyse how far industry has come in meeting them over the past year.
When choosing a hotel Medan visitors will have numerous options to choose from, since location will be an important consideration for those hoping to attend.
