Corporate change expert Rick Maurer says 2/3 of major organizational changes fail because of resistance that could easily be avoided. Maurer, of Arlington, VA, is coming to Philadelphia to help local nonprofit executives learn to "lead change without migraines."
Maurer will be the keynote speaker at the fifth annual Nonprofit Strategies Forum of The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University on June 5. Nearly 300 Philadelphia area nonprofit leaders are expected to gather for the conference, entitled "Managing Change Before it Manages You: Evolution, Revolution, and Transition in the Nonprofit Sector," which will tackle such pressing issues as the increasingly diverse workplace, handling reaction to internal changes in nonprofit organizations, and nonprofit crisis communications.
With increasing recognition of an impending leadership gap, resulting from the retirement of babyboomer executives, leadership transition will be a hot topic at the conference.
The all day conference will be held on the campus of La Salle University, 1900 W. Olney Ave., Phila.
In addition to strategy sessions led by local experts, participants will benefit from a free consultation with a "change agent," to discuss a topic relating to organizational change in nonprofits.
Partial scholarships to attend the Nonprofit Strategies Forum may be available to eligible nonprofit organizations, by calling 215-951-1701. More information and an on-line registration form are available at http://www.lasallenonprofitcenter/org/educational/forum.htm.
