Boot Camp for New Dads, a non-profit orientation program for fathers-to-be, operating in more than 260 hospitals, clinics, schools and churches around the country, has put together a "Dad Starter Pack" which will be available this summer.

The Dad Starter Pack comes complete with an A to Z "how to" DVD that illustrates how to care for baby; the essential "Best of Boot Camp" which includes a fold out cheat sheet and game plans for new dads which cover everything from how to sooth a crying baby to diapering tips; and a copy of the important reference guide Hit the Ground Crawling authored by Boot Camp for New Dads founder and Head Coach Greg Bishop.

Research from Princeton University has shown that "birth is a magical moment" and men are most receptive to information on establishing good habits as dads in the months surrounding the birth of their babies. There are countless books and reference guides for mothers on the market. The Dad Starter Pack is the first of its kind to address the specific needs of new fathers in caring for their babies, in a format that is very user friendly. Similar to the Boot Camp for New Dads programs, the Dad Starter Pack was created by men, for men.

"We’ve worked with more than 150,000 new fathers from all walks of life in our Boot Camp for New Dads workshops. What we have found is that they are very eager to step up to the plate and continue learning to be the best dads they can be. Our Dad Starter Pack is chock full of vital information that dads can easily refer to for guidance," explained Bishop.

The Dad Starter Pack will be available for purchase online at www.DadsAdventure.com , Amazon.com and at select stores nationwide. Items in the pack are also sold separately.

Bishop continued, "One of the greatest things that dads can do is to realize just how important their role is in their child’s life and that it expands far beyond being a good provider. Making fatherhood an adventure with our children is one of the best things we can do as dads."

Boot Camp for New Dads
Celebrating their 16th year, Boot Camp for New Dads’ mission is to help new dads face both the challenges and opportunities of fatherhood through workshops which provide them with "hands on" education in the care of their babies. Men attend the class when they are expecting their first baby, and are joined in the workshop by "veterans" who had previously attended and have returned with their two to four-month-old baby in tow. They are able to give the dads-to-be a realistic idea of what to do and what to expect when their first baby comes.

Boot Camp for New Dads is nationally acclaimed as the "Best Practice" for preparing men to be fathers and was recently named a U.S. Navy Model Program.

With more than 4.1 million births last year alone (National Center for Health Statistics), and approximately 1.5 million men becoming new dads every year, it’s more important than ever for fathers to realize that being a "good provider" is only part of the very central role they have in their children’s lives.

Bishop continued, "These guys are inspiring and should make all men proud, because once they understand how much they are needed, they deliver the goods."
