Manchester, 19 September, 2005 – As mobile messages gain the seal of royal approval with the Queen texting Prince Harry to wish him a happy birthday, a new website has launched which lets people make and send unique mobile phone greeting cards to friends and family for just £1.50.

Stampster.co.uk is a new, no-subscription picture customising website. Simply by uploading a digital photo of a person or group to Stampster and adding a number of custom picture frames, people can create almost any type of mobile phone greeting including "happy birthday", "I’m sorry", "you’re dumped", "I love you", "congratulations" and many others.

For example, students can overcome their Fresher’s week fears and send personalised snapshots of student life to old friends or parents via their mobile phones. As messages can be tailor-made for individuals, it’s easy to send ‘beer goggles’ or ‘psycho’ to mates, and ‘homesick’ or ‘missing you’ to Mum.

Stampster offers users over 100 different fun frames with which to customise their photos and new frames are being added all the time. From Stampster’s easy-to-use interface, anyone can overlay a range of frames and text on their photos for every occasion. They can then ‘stamp fun on a phone’ by sending the photos as a mobile greetings card to family or friends for £1.50 per image, which is charged to the sender’s mobile phone bill.

The Stampster service has no ongoing subscription costs whatsoever, unlike many other mobile content services which have come under fire from both the public and telecoms watchdog ICSTIS for their complicated and expensive subscription-based charging structures. Users can also show off Stamped images free on their personal weblogs or store created images in a free online Stampster album.

With many people now owning handsets containing integral cameras and picture messaging capabilities, Stampster offers users a personalised way of marking a birthday, Fresher’s week or simply saying ‘thinking of you’ to bridge the gap between traditional greeting cards and text messages. Stampster delivers fresh, fun mobile content, costs less than the price of most cards and a stamp, and has a simple pricing model.

Stampster co-founder Dominic Conlon said: "Stampster combines the personalised nature of the greetings card with the speed and convenience of a text message or e-card. Stampster gives people an innovative and individualised way of keeping in touch with friends and family, with pay-as-you-go pricing – a feature that even the Queen would appreciate.

"Users want originality – Stampster allows them to create mobile wallpapers unique to their phone or send a picture greetings card or invite for a special occasion. Students looking to let their parents know they’re working hard at university, or perhaps to let their friends know the real story can use Stampster frames to keep in touch with people back home."

Users can explore the site’s functions for free at www.stampster.co.uk The service is entirely web-based, with no need to download software to a PC.
