BIG U MUSIC TAKES TOP HONOR IN 2005 ROCKY MOUNTAIN EMMYS
Phoenix (Tuesday, September 13) – Big U Music.Sound Design took top honors in the "Music – Non-News" category and received two other nominations at the 2005 Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards, a regional competition sponsored by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences last weekend.
The winning entry, titled "Steps," was part of a three-spot campaign for the Phoenix Suns, and featured Stephon Marbury training for the upcoming season by running the arena steps. Big U Music did the award-winning sound design for the striking piece.
Other Big U Music entries nominated for an Emmy included another Suns spot titled "Rebound," also in the "Audio – Non-News" category; and an entry in the "Music" category for the Arizona Diamondbacks '05 Broadcast Open. The two Suns spots were produced by The Lavidge Company, and the Diamondbacks open was produced by the Diamondbacks game broadcast producer.
"We’re particularly proud of these spots, because they also received ADDYs® earlier this year," said Sam Esparza, a partner in the Phoenix-based firm that began as one of Arizona’s first commercial music companies in 1994. "Personally, I’m pleased that our work has been honored by both the advertising community via the ADDYs® and the television community via the Emmy."
Each year, the NATAS Chapters across the country recognize and reward excellence in their broadcasting communities. For more than 20 years, the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter has done this through the annual Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards.
