DATELINE: BRAINTREE AND QUINCY, MA... Does the elder you are caring for have hearing loss? Is communication stressful? South Shore Elder Services, a private, non-profit agency that provides seniors and caregivers in the South Shore area with valuable resources and services, will hold "Caring for an Elder with Hearing Loss" free training session on Tuesday, September 27th, from 10:00am to noon at South Shore Elder Services, 159 Bay State Drive in Braintree, Mass.
The "Caring for an Elder with Hearing Loss" seminar is for all family caregivers and friends of elders who are deaf or hard of hearing. Debra Lobsitz from the Massachusetts Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing is the speaker and will address such issues as understanding hearing loss and its impact on elders; communication strategies; resource information; and, adaptive listening devices and other technology that aids independence.
