The festival will comprise just over 60 performances that will present the best in classical music including opera, musicals and theatre. Leading musicians and orchestras will be playing in the concert series performing symphonic works, solo recitals and chamber music. Some of the concert highlights include those by the London Symphony Orchestra and the Jerusalem String Quartet.
Opera fans can hear a varied schedule including international productions such as The Nightingale and Other Tales written by Stravinsky and exemplary work by Shostakovich will also feature heavily. The world premieres will come in the form of Thanks to my Eyes with a score composed by Oscar Bianchi. An interesting production and another world premiere will be Austerlitz which is a mixture of an opera and a musical with artistic interpretations that is definitely worth seeing.
The programme of events will take place between 5th and 25th July 2011 and aside from the main artists the festival also offers a good opportunity to see the rising stars of its music academy. While staying at a hotel Aix En Provence for the festival visitors should try to catch one of the academy recitals for an equally good alternative to the main shows.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Hotels in the area are at their busiest over the event so early bookings are essential for guaranteeing the best locations."
