The Rey Cup is well known and a number of international teams have taken part, including Bolton, Ipswich, Glasgow and WBA. The five-day event is to take place in Laugardalur Sport Centre to celebrate the Reykjavik International Football Festival, which has been held annually for the last decade.
There will be two age groups involved: the U14, born in 1997 and 1998, and the U16, born in 1995 and 1996, for both girls and boys. The tournament will consist of a minimum of five matches for each team and a final match will then be played for each age group. A trophy will be awarded to the winning team and the most sportsmanlike.
The opening ceremony will consist of a pool party, barbecue dinner and disco. For the remainder of the stay there are numerous high-class facilities available in the sport centre, including an open-air thermal pool, steam bath and Jacuzzi.
Reykjavik hotels make for a comfortable stay while in Iceland. There are a number of family friendly hotels and resorts available. However, it is advisable to book in advance for this event.
The cost of the whole event is €120. This includes airport transfers, school accommodation for five nights and meals as well as additional entertainment. However, this does not include sleeping bags or beds.
