Cow Parade is an exhibition where life size replicas of cows will be placed in the parks, streets and public areas around the city and what makes them so different is the involvement of famous designers and artists who help with their decoration.
For the Istanbul show, local and famous designers have been asked to take part and the exterior of the cows is left entirely to the imagination of the artist.
The parade has toured the world’s major cities and designers such as Vivienne Westwood, John Rocha and Christian Lacroix have contributed with their own creations. Artists including Oliviero Toscani and Richard Haas have also been involved and even architect Lord Norman Foster and Rolling Stone, Ronnie Wood have put their name to pieces.
Visitors checking into a hotel Istanbul any time between 1st August 2011 and 31st January 2012 can see the models for free and then afterwards there is an auction where the cows are put up for sale and the money raised will be given to charity.
Previous cows have gone for a much as $146,000 although if that’s out of most people’s price range, smaller editions can also be bought from the online shop.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "The appeal of the cows will bring more visitors to the city and this will create much greater demand for hotels."
