For ten full days the Fair of Malaga will be showcasing the unique skills that go into traditional flamenco dances, horse parades and crafts made from the region.
The fair is a celebration of the city’s great traditions that typify much of Spain’s own customs and visitors will be able to see dancers seemingly everywhere on the street as many residents come out in their finest dresses and suits.
The fair actually starts with a grand fireworks display by the harbour with the fireworks going off in time with the music as people watch from Central Park. The festivities will run between 13th and 21st August 2011 and during that time there are over 200 dance halls where the folk dances can be seen.
Stalls around the city also sell locally produced crafts and there are numerous chances to buy accessories to create a personal flamenco costume.
In the evening there will be a large outdoor concert which sees famous artists performing and this draws thousands of people. On the edge of the city a fairground is also set up which provides even more activities with plenty of rides and food stalls.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Hotels in Malaga are overrun with requests for rooms at this time and it’s essential that people make reservations early; otherwise they’ll find places quickly become fully booked."
