Henley Management College, one of the world's top management education providers, is launching a new "Leading for Sustainability" Programme which will help key decision makers in business, government and not-for-profit organisations accelerate creative transformation towards sustainable environmental practises.
As the Stern report and other climate change reports make clear, the economic costs and social disruption of global warming are going to be on an unprecedented scale if people do not make a concerted effort to bring in more sustainable ways of producing wealth and social well-being in the near future.
Henley's Leading for Sustainability course is a three day programme designed for senior managers in corporate responsibility, strategists, and directors involved in operations, logistics, marketing, communications, HR, finance and organisational audit.
The programme aims to establish a practical grasp of new sustainability leadership principles, in order to enable staff to lead sustainably, drive innovation and change within their organisation, evaluate how to simultaneously improve environmental, social and financial performance and develop a sustainability action plan with practical milestones for successful delivery.
"Responding to the challenges of sustainability is likely to be the single most important factor differentiating organisations with a long-term future from organisations failing to adapt to the demands of the new economic climate," say Henley Management College.
The philosophy of the programme is that energy efficiency and carbon neutrality represent only the very first few steps in an exciting journey that will drive a new era of business innovations and cultural change through our expectations of work and life in general.
Leading for Sustainability, a change-project-focused programme, draws on the work of Henley’s Centres of Excellence - the Knowledge Management Forum, the Future Work Forum, the John Madejski Centre for Reputation, the Centre for Board Effectiveness and the Centre for Voluntary Sector Management. The programme also draws on key external industry and environmental advocacy figures defining the future edge of the sustainability agenda today.
Henley will be running a pilot programme from 30 October to 2 November –with a follow-up day on 10 December 2007. This pilot is offered at a 20% reduction on the standard programme fee. Visit Henley Management's website for more information on the Leading for Sustainability Programme and other business courses.
