The opera is part of the Paphos Aphrodite Festival and will be performed by the accomplished National Theatre of Prague who will be bringing to life the 19th century poet and fairytale writer, Hoffman. The opera is based on his complex imagination and the story weaves its way through tales of love, treachery, duels and fantasy.
The piece is one of Offenbach’s most celebrated works and even today is still an extremely popular production. It was also one of his final pieces as he died shortly after its Paris debut in 1881.
This will be the 13th edition of the festival which is set to appear in the striking grounds of Paphos’ medieval castle which will only add to the suspense of the performances.
Visitors wanting to catch one of the shows can arrange a room at hotels in Paphos for any one of the three days the opera is being held, on either 2nd, 3rd or 4th September 2011. Tickets start at €35 rising up to €80 and although the opera is sung in French, surtitles will be provided in English and Greek.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "This is a special opera attracting many fans of both Offenbach and the Prague National Theatre. Attendees should therefore arrange their accommodation at the same time as purchasing their tickets."
