Trinity Academy of Raleigh, a K-12 college preparatory school community located in North Raleigh, has announced that its head of school, Dr. Robert Littlejohn, has received this year’s MetroBravo Award for Best Non Fiction Book from Metro Magazine. Dr. Littlejohn was recognized for his 2006 published work titled Wisdom and Eloquence: A Christian Paradigm for Classical Learning, a treatise on Christian education that he co-authored with Charles T. Evans. Evans is head of school at Regents School of Austin in Austin, Texas. and serves on a board that represents the interests of schools before the Texas State Legislature. Both authors are national speakers and consultants to colleges and schools across the nation.
Other books to receive a 2007 MetroBravo Award in the non-fiction category included Jeanette Walls’ The Glass Castle and Mark Steyn’s American Alone: The End of the World as we World as We Know It. About Robert Littlejohn, Ph.D.:
Robert Littlejohn, Ph.D., is head of school of Trinity Academy of Raleigh, a K-12 college preparatory school community located in North Raleigh. His career spans 25 years in K-12 and higher education, during which he has served in a variety of teaching and administrative capacities. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Baylor University, his master of science in biology at Stephen F. Austin State University and his Ph. D. in Botany from Washington State University. As a Ph.D. biologist, Dr. Littlejohn has co-authored two college biology laboratory texts, Exploring the Living World: Laboratory Studies in Biology Fifth Edition (1990) and General Biology: Laboratory Studies in Biology (2001). He has published more than 25 reports of original research in the fields of ecology, plant physiology, biochemistry and science educational theory since 1980. Dr. Littlejohn joined Trinity Academy of Raleigh in 2005.
As head of school, he is responsible for all aspects of operation at the academy, including academic quality, budget management, financial development, promotion, research and planning, and student services. He oversees over 260 students as well as 42 faculty and staff, and he reports to the Trinity Academy board of directors as well as the parents of enrolled students.
