Competitors will have to run, cycle and kayak as fast as they can to complete the Killarney Adventure Race 2011. The race is going to be divided into five stages, with stage one featuring a 4km run at the foothills of the McGillycuddy Reeks which are the highest mountain range in Ireland. The terrain is hard going and consist energy sapping bog along with a rocky ascent up Strickeen Mountain.
Stage two is a fast 35km downhill section where cyclists will have to negotiate potholes and steep curves to reach stage three at Muckross Lake. This section is made up of kayaking where participants will have to paddle for 1.5km around the lake.
At stage four people can decide if they want to take on a 18km or an 8km run depending on how much is left in the tank. Both routes are tough but the 18km section is made even more demanding as it features some steep mountain climbs.
The last stage then features a 2km bike ride where people will be racing to the finish line to collect a well-deserved medal.
Lek Boonlert, marketing head at DirectRooms.com commented: "Killarney City Centre hotels are due to be filled with competitors on 8th October when the race takes place. All entrants should make sure they’d don’t leave it until the last minute to make a booking."
