Gaming Activity at Holiday Centre features Largest Checkers Board in the UAE

The Holiday Centre at Crowne plaza is encouraging everyone to attend and participate in the shopping mall’s Checkers Competition which features the largest Checkers Board ever built in the UAE.

The Checkers Challenge, an activity that Holiday Centre is having for the first time, features 24 giant flat disk-like checkers pieces and a life-sized checkers board measuring 3 x 3 meters. The contestants will be standing on the board and carrying the pieces as they play this universal game which is good in enhancing one’s logical skills and guaranteed to bring a lot of fun during this holy month of Ramadan.

Checkers is a game which has ancient roots, as it was discovered at around 3000 B.C. in an archeological excavation at Ur in Iraq. However, the game initially used a slightly different board, with different number of pieces and no definite rules.

During the competition period, Holiday Centre will get the winner’s name for each game that will be held. These winners will then be entitled to participate in a raffle where 4 names will be drawn at the end of the competition. Each winner will be awarded a Dhs 500 gift voucher courtesy of Damas Jewellery.

The gaming activity, which started last October 20th, has been extended until November 3rd in order to give the public an opportunity to play and see the giant Checkers board. The competition is being held from 10 AM until midnight at the Holiday Centre lobby at Crowne Plaza in Sheikh Zayed Road.
