Richmond, VA - The groove-oriented roots rock and old school reggae music written by Richmond, Virginia's MOOSSA has generated movie interest and will be featured in the Canadian indie flick "The Zero Sum". MOOSSA's song "Dragon's Den" from the album "Get Away" was selected by director Raphael Assaf (I Am My Father) to be a prominent song in the feature film.
"The Zero Sum" stars Ewen Bremner (Black Hawk Down, Pearl Harbor, Trainspotting), Sarah Strange (White Noise, Jack, Little Women) and David Richmond-Peck (Fantastic Four, Into The West), and is about a mugger who falls in love with one of his victims and struggles to balance the relationship with his secret life of crime and the secret reason why he must carry it on. The movie will go the film fest route beginning with the Whistler Film Fest in British Columbia this February and is slated to appear at several other fests throughout 2006.
Moossa recently completed their follow up CD to "Get Away" and plans its release for early 2006. The Richmond, VA band has widespread appeal with fans both young and old alike, and has toured east of the Mississippi relentlessly throughout 2005 performing over 250 shows including some large festivals in the Southeastern USA. Moossa delivers a unique blend of music likened to that of Elvis Costello meets Sublime or a cross between Bob Marley and Bob Dylan. The quartet's current lineup includes:
John Moossa - acoustic guitar, lead vocals
Jim Fabricatore - electric guitar, vocals
Ryan Davis - bass, vocals
Scott Lewis - percussion, drums
