The tranquil rituals of Christmas… badly choreographed nativity plays, carol singers yearning for a white Christmas coupled with the jamborees are under serious threat.
Demonstrable struggles against the season of goodwilll have unequivocally been expressed in the US. The Telegraph newspaper in the UK reported last year that a Kansas Newspaper printed an apology after referring to a "Christmas tree" at the city’s Winterfest celebration, rather than a "community tree." A Denver city parade banned a Christian Church float, allowing Chinese lion dancing, and German folk dancing, and further, Tiny Tim’s prayer of : "God bless us, every one." was deemed offensive enough to ban a Washington school play, and amazingly the mayor in Massachusetts formally apologised for referring to the "holiday party" as a "Christmas party".
"A 21st century celebration and contemplation of our Saviour's birth" stated Gary Beaver, Archbishop of the Old Catholic Church, "envisages Christmas which seems something to be embarrassed about. We have become so concerned with legally enforced cultural and religious rights of other nationals, at the expense of our own religious identity. Christmas is our heritage and legacy" speaking about the impact of the growing taboo of Christmas on future generations.
Archbishop Gary Beaver stated; "If we keep chopping bits off it on this ridiculous rollercoaster of political correctness, soon we will need planning permission to hold a Christmas party, with mistletoe hanging under police protection, legislation to avoid Santa’s knee and a good solicitor on the payroll until the New Year"
Last year the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and the STUC united forces were officially warned of the perils of Christmas office parties citing mistletoe as a potential threat for sexual harassment lawsuits. Further political correctness demanded that the Red Cross ban advent calendars’, and many shopping centres to ban Christmas carol singers.
"Every year Christmas becomes less of a Christian celebration of worship, and who exactly is it for?" asked Archbishop Gary Beaver. "I can’t imagine that any religious of other creeds are actually offended by Christmas, the decision it seems is taken by faceless, non-denominational bureaucratic institutions whose thirst for cultural diversity, and political correctness, actually kills the very thing they are seeking to protect.
What is truly worrying is that future generations will not know any better.
