Website Provides a Voice of Protest Against Chinese Violence

www.iwontwatchtheolympics.com Aims at Advertisers Supporting Chinese Olympic Games

All eyes are on China, but not for good reasons. When China’s upcoming Olympics are surrounded by controversy already, they take it to a whole new level by burning protestors to death and firing on monks in peaceful protest marches.

Organizer Lisa Hayes said, “When I saw the footage of the Chinese police taking aim at monks in robes I was horrified. It hit me in my gut. I asked myself, if I was an athlete could I in good conscious participate in the Olympics. The answer was probably not. Then I asked my self, as a viewer, can I participate by watching the Olympics in China. The answer was a resounding NO.”

www.iwontwatchtheolympics.com was organized to give people a forum to let potential advertisers know that they will not participate in the upcoming Olympic Games if they are held in China. This type of protest hits where it might actually count. Viewers are dollars for advertisers, and if they aren’t going to be there, advertising revenues are in question. By simply signing a digital petition, visitors to the sight can join a movement that stands in solidarity against the violence and human rights violations in China.
