[ClickPress, Mon Mar 31 2008] One of the few individuals in Europe to have successfully overseen the launch of a functioning IPTV platform has been appointed to head up Mirada Media, the interactive media division of Mirada plc, the publicly-quoted multi-platform operator of digital consumer and transaction-based services, created by the recent merger of YooMedia and Fresh IT.
Antonio Rodríguez was responsible for delivering an IPTV platform with video on demand for the Spanish Telco operator Jazztel, as well as having responsibility for voice and data products in his role as Telco Platforms Engineering Manager. His previous experience includes building the first digital cable platform in Spain with Madritel, implementing the first pay-per-view offering in Spain and having technical responsibility for the company’s first near video-on-demand service.
He joins Mirada to lead the expansion and internationalisation of the company’s interactive media business. Mirada Media provides a full suite of interactive, transactional and gaming end to end services to enhance broadcast and on-demand TV content irrespective of the access platform.
“It is a natural move for me to go from a client-side engineering role into a technology development role. As a company, Mirada understands the challenges that the operators face, which gives us an insight that few other digital specialists can match,” explains Rodríguez.
“We are also one of the few companies with extensive experience of both the broadcast and gaming sectors, which means we can provide significant assistance to broadcasters and content providers looking to take advantage of the deregulation of gambling in Europe.”
Mirada Media products have to developed to assist broadcasters that want to enhance their existing offering, access providers (e.g. mobile operators) that want to extend their platforms, brands that want to develop their own interactive TV or broadcasting capabilities, or existing operators wanting to upgrade their interactive capability.
