Radisson Blu Hotel Krakow invites businesses to run for charity

Radisson Blu Hotel Krakow is urging businesses in the Polish city to sign up for the Krakow Business Run 2013, a charity event co-organized by the hotel.

Registration for the relay race opened on 6 May, allowing businesses to enter teams into the event which takes place on 15 September 2013. The run is dedicated to the Jasiek Mela's Foundation "Beyond Horizons" programme - a charitable initiative that helps people who live without limbs.

This is the second year the Krakow Business Run has taken place in the city. The 2012 event attracted 1000 participants, each running in teams of 5, representing hundreds of Krakow businesses. Organisers hope that this year's run will be twice as big.

"Due to last year's huge interest in participation we moved the event from Plac Szczepanski to Krakow Main Square. This year we are prepared to handle even more runners, especially in the most difficult part of the route – the Changes Zone. Thanks to last year experience, two thousand people, 400 teams of 5, can participate in the run this year," said Wojciech Liszka, co-organizer of the event from Radisson Blu Hotel Krakow.

Along with the hotel in Krakow, the charitable Jasiek Mela's Foundation "Beyond Horizons" is working with UBS Poland Service Centre, Luxoft, Krakow Urban Borough and the Sport Infrastructure Board in Krakow to deliver the event. This year the participation fees for the run will deliver help Agnieszka, a beneficiary of the "Beyond Horizons" programme.

Agnieszka is 25 and lives in Krakow. Even though she was born without legs, she is an active person who likes sports, plays wheelchair basketball and has a sailing license. The money raised from the participation fees will go towards buying her new prosthetic limbs.

Wojciech Liszka explained the duty that the hotel in Krakow city centre felt towards supporting the charity. He said: "We know that out hotel is situated in a very heart of historical city full of energetic citizens. We are aware we shouldn't only benefits from the resources of the city but also contribute to local environment. This is the main reason why we organize Krakow Business Run."

Although this year number of participants has been doubled, it is still limited. The registration started on 6 May. Teams that pre-register now and leave their e-mail address on the event website will receive a notification message when the registration begins.
