The Peruvian IT market is expected to be a regional outperformer 2015-2019, even though the rest of the economy will expand at lower average rates as a decline in metals prices weighs on private investment into mining and results in slower export growth. The relative immaturity of the Peruvian market, with low penetration of devices in the retail market, and solutions in the enterprise market, means we expect robust growth across all three IT market segments. A supportive economic environment will add to growth momentum, with r eal private consumption expected to remain above headline real GDP growth 2015-2019 . Meanwhile, g overnment policies continue to support IT sector growth and trends in the industry such as declining device prices, improvements in network infrastructure and cloud computing adoption will spur growth. The major downside risk to our outlook is the weaker Chinese demand for the country's raw materials . This risk has intensified in Peru since the beginning of 2014 and we expect this to continue to weigh on economic growth in the months ahead, with potential negative consequences for the IT sector.

Headline Expenditure Projections

Computer Hardware Sales: PEN3.4bn in 2015 to PEN4.7bn in 2019. Tablet growth will outperform in the short term, but with low PC penetration and rising incomes there will remain growth opportunities for vendors of desktops and notebooks through our forecast period.

Software Sales: PEN1.1bn in 2015 to PEN1.6bn in 2019. Enterprise modernisation and a deepening of the SaaS market driving spending growth, but financing constraints on SME informatisation could prove disruptive if global financial conditions become more hostile.

IT Services Sales: PEN2.4bn in 2015 to PEN3.8bn in 2019. IT services are forecast to outperform as Peru emerges as a destination for outsourcing services, while cloud infrastructure services are expected to become a growth driver in the latter years of our forecast.
