Sexy Cat Lady Wins Award for Savvy Use of Social Media

Christine Michaels of Riverfront Cats was presented with the prestigious BlogPaws Nose to Nose Award for best use of social media by a nonprofit organization for pets. Christine Michaels of downtown Miami won the hotly contested award over other nominees such as Best Friend Animal Society and Feline Rescues, Inc.

"While the word 'Crazy' is associated with women who feed and care for stray cats, Christine turns that perception upside down. Winning this prestigious award proves that the modern cat lady is both smart and beautiful and compassionate. "It shows in Christine's tireless efforts to raise awareness about the plight of community cats and black cats through hands-on care and social media", shares Elizabeth Andrade, founding member of the nonprofit organization.

The Nose to Nose Awards Ceremony has been a tradition within BlogPaws for the last four years recognizing pet bloggers in various categories from content to design to video.

The award ceremony is a highly anticipated, red-carpet, media-covered ceremony. Competition grows every year.A cumulative total of 1,000 entries were narrowed to four finalists in each category. "The story of Rogér, the Miami le chat noir and social media efforts to rescue him, stood out for the judges. This is what the pet world needs to break through the noise and raise awareness for an ongoing challenge surrounding stray cats and black cats," stated one BlogPaws judge.

This was Christine's/Riverfront Cats' third nomination. Last year they were nominated for Best Video and Best Nonprofit. The video was a music spoof remake of Justin Timberlake's Sexy Back--depicting the grace and intelligence of stray cats, feral cats, back cats and cat ladies. "Overcoming ignorance takes patience, education and creativity. Of course I can not sing yet I'm singing. So a little humor helps too." smiles Christine.
