Peru Information Technology Report Q4 2015 - New Market Research Report

As a result of the squeeze on Peruvian household purchasing power from expected depreciation against the US dollar in 2015, we have downgraded the IT spending growth outlook - but this has only a minor impact on our positive medium - term outlook. The relative immaturity of the Peruvian market - with low penetration of devices in the retail market and solutions in the enterprise market - means we expect robust growth across all three IT market segments. A supportive economic environment will add to growth momentum, with r eal private consumption expected to remain above headline real GDP growth 2015-2019 . Meanwhile, g overnment policies continue to support IT sector growth and trends in the industry such as declining device prices, improvements in network infrastructure and cloud computing adoption will spur growth. The major downside risk to our bullish outlook is weaker Chinese demand for the country's raw materials .

Headline Expenditure Projections

Computer Hardware Sales: PEN3.1bn in 2015 to PEN4.1bn in 2019. The low PC penetration rate offers medium-term growth prospects to vendors, particularly outside Lima, with broad based economic growth expected to deepen the market over the medium term.

Software Sales: PEN1.0bn in 2015 to PEN1.4bn in 2019. Enterprise modernisation and a deepening of the software-as-a-service market driving spending growth, but financing constraints on small- and medium-sized enterprise informatisation could prove disruptive if global financial conditions become more hostile.

IT Services Sales: PEN2.2bn in 2015 to PEN3.3bn in 2019. IT services are forecast to outperform as Peru emerges as a destination for outsourcing services, with potential for movement up the value chain from contact centres to business process outsourcing and software application development.
