[ClickPress, Wed Nov 18 2015] A small upgrade to the growth outlook in the Q4 15 update has reinforced our view that the Philippines IT market is set to be a regional outperformer - alongside other frontier Asia Pacific markets such as Vietnam and Indonesia - over the medium term. The key to our positive outlook is the convergence of broad based economic growth ; ie , strong wage growth across most of the populace, low device penetration rates and increasing enterprise confidence and modernisation momentum. We believe this low-hanging fruit will enable a spell of strong ' catch-up ' growth to encompass the IT hardware, software and services segments . There are areas that stand out even in this bullish outlook, for instance the b ooming business process outsourcing industry and the adoption of cloud computing services by both large enterprises and SMEs. Broadband quality and the high price of international bandwidth are however bottlenecks to faster adoption of cloud computing services, which if removed could see the growth forecast moved even higher.

Headline Expenditure Projections
Computer Hardware Sales: PHP97.2bn in 2014 to PHP103.5bn in 2015, growth of 6.4%. We expect growth of notebook and tablet shipments will offset a contraction in desktop sales in 2015, although tablet growth outperformance will continue to narrow after the tablet volume boom of 2012-2014 that resulted in rapid diffusion of ownership in the core market.
Software Sales: PHP27.4bn in 2014 to PHP29.3bn in 2015, growth of 6.8%. Growth is expected to slow from 2014, when sales were boosted by XP upgrades, but enterprise software demand growth will remain on a strong trajectory in 2015.
IT Services Sales: PHP55.0bn in 2014 to PHP62.3bn in 2015, growth of 13.3%. We expect the growth momentum of the business process outsourcing (BPO) and cloud computing markets will ensure IT services growth outperformance extends into 2015.
