The economic crisis provoked a rapid volume sales decrease from 3,315,000 units in 2013 to 1,927,000 units in computers and peripherals in 2015. For most Ukrainians, the purchase of such devices became unaffordable. Besides, people were tending to buy laptops or tablets instead of desktops during the review period, as a result, both monitors and desktops lost volume sales of over 20% in 2015 to slip to 190,000 and 186,000 units accordingly.

Competitive Landscape

In desktops, the biggest volume share belonged to Impression (10% in 2015). The biggest share in laptops belonged to Lenovo (26%) and within tablets – Samsung (20%). In general, Ukrainians bought well-known, respected brands and their shares increased by means of other brands’ decline. Over the review period, the share of white-box tablets rapidly increased and this trend remains. The biggest in printers was Canon with a 29% volume share in 2015 due to its good quality and brand reputation. Within monitors, Samsung led with a 26% volume share as it is known as good screen manufacturer.
