Leadership communications specialist CloudQast is promoting ‘2016 SuStAinable St Albans Week’. It is doing so by producing a promotional video for the event, featuring nine leaders of events relating to the Week’s sustainable living themes.

Damian Gaskin, who heads up CloudQast’s St Albans office, commented, "CloudQast addresses organisations’ needs for fast, authentic, precise and inspiring communication – especially in the fields of leadership as well as compliance, along with learning and development. Working with companies around the world, primarily – but not exclusively – via Cloud-based, interactive video, CloudQast provides creative, intelligent and flexible solutions for leaders to share their ‘voice, mind and vision’ and, so, engage and inspire their people.

"Since CloudQast is part of the St Albans community, it agrees with the aims of ‘Sustainable St Albans’ and it has this particular specialism, it seemed that making this promotional video would be an ideal contribution to our corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy."

The Week, which applies to St Albans, Harpenden and local villages in that area of Hertfordshire, runs from 19th to 26th November.

It is attracting support from schools, faith groups, community groups and businesses. These organisations will be running environmental sustainability themed events or activities that link to their group’s objectives.

Sustainable St Albans Week follows the One Planet Living Framework – the ten themes show aspects of environmental sustainability, for groups running an activity. The ten sustainable living themes are:
1. Health and happiness - Encouraging active, sociable, meaningful lives to promote good health and well being
2. Equity and local economy - Creating bioregional economies that support equity and diverse local employment and international fair trade
3. Culture and community - Respecting and reviving local identity, wisdom and culture; encouraging the involvement of people in shaping their community and creating a new culture of sustainability
4. Land use and wildlife - Protecting and restoring biodiversity and creating new natural habitats through good land use and integration into the built environment
5. Sustainable water - Using water efficiently in buildings, farming and manufacturing. Designing to avoid local issues such as flooding , drought and water course pollution
6. Local and sustainable food - Supporting sustainable and humane farming, promoting access to healthy, low impact, local, seasonal and organic diets and reducing food waste
7. Sustainable materials - Using sustainable and healthy products, such as those with low embodied energy, sourced locally, made from renewable or waste resources
8. Sustainable transport - Reducing the need to travel, and encouraging low and zero carbon modes of transport to reduce emissions
9. Zero waste - Reducing waste, reusing where possible, and ultimately sending zero waste to landfill
10. Zero carbon - Making buildings energy efficient and delivering all energy with renewable technologies
