Pirates Providing for People, Inc., better known as the Krewe of Blackbeard’s Revenge (KBR), a Tampa Bay Gasparilla Krewe of local businessmen and women, have started their FUNdraiding season now that Gasparilla is done for the year. They kick off the season with the KBR Scavenger Hunt for Autism.
The KBR Scavenger Hunt for Autism is an event where we invite you to gather your friends to build teams of 2-6 people and plunder the Tampa Bay area for booty. You will be given a top-secret list of clues to find treasure. You will build your points by collecting cell phone photos of you and your team with the treasure. Bonus points will be awarded for costume and photo creativity.
This event will take place Saturday, March 31 from 9 AM - 2 PM at PJ Dolan's Irish Pub & Grille (2836 E Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33613) where teams will venture into the Tampa Bay area to have a blast while searching for treasure, and concludes back at PJ Dolan's for announcements and awards. There will be 50/50, gift baskets, live bands, drink specials and many more surprises! One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit Warriors for Autism.
This will be a family friendly event that will include sensory zone experiences. An opportunity to learn more about what autism is and some of the day-to-day challenges overcome by those that live on the autism spectrum.
"This is an event like we have never done before, but we have gathered some of the most creative minds in KBR to help plan each piece of this puzzle", says Karen Taylor, one of the charity organizers with KBR.
"We have several families in the Krewe that are touched by autism. With input from them, we have designed some great learning zones in the scavenger hunt so that those that do not have firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by this disorder can have a better appreciation for their challenges", added Dawn Lay, another organizer of the event.
Teams are encouraged to pre-register their team at https://tinyurl.com/KBRregister for only $20 per person. If you prefer, you may register on the day of event on-site for $25 per person.
