1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem of some kind each year, so why do so many of us feel uncomfortable talking about this?
Zealous is hosting an online competition to amplify the voices of UK creatives to share brave and inspirational ideas around the theme of mental health and wellbeing. Submissions will capture all kinds of work including film, sculpture and painting.
Zealous is an organisation with over a decade worth of experience running art competitions to support creative talent. Previous competitions have caught the attention of guest judges; Yinka Shonibare (MBE), Craig Hassall (AM) - Chief Executive of Royal Albert Hall, & Amanda Nevill (CBE) - former CEO of BFI.
The competition offers a rare opportunity for grassroots creatives to get their work seen by prestigious arts organisations. Zealous will offer platforms and exposure to an audience of over 70,000+ social media followers in an attempt to help launch new careers, inspire greater empathy, curate important conversations, and lift the stigma on mental health and wellbeing.
There are also £1,500 worth of cash prizes to be won and selected work will be showcased through an accessible and immersive online exhibition.
Entrants will have the option to donate as they apply to raise money for Create UK. The charity uses the creative arts to empower society's most disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

Dates:
The competition is hosted through Zealous' award-winning online submission platform. It opens on 1st June and closes on 15th July with the final round of judging ending on 29th August. Results are set to be released on 10th October.
Prizes:
£1000 for the first prize, £250 for 2nd place and £250 for the winner of the public vote.
Selected creatives will have their work showcased in a prestigious and accessibility friendly online exhibition along with having their work shared across social media platforms with over 70,000 followers.
Eligibility:
This is a nationwide competition open to everyone residing in the UK.
Both older and new work can be submitted. (It does not matter if the submitted work has already won a competition).
Any style of work is also accepted including (but not limited to); art, sculpture, film, games development & literature.
