Six market-leaders combine to create £40m IT/information management cluster: Tribal Technology

Six market-leading Tribal Group companies are combining to create one £40m turnover IT and information management organisation, Tribal Technology Ltd. The new structure came into effect on April 1 2005 so that all products and services from FD Learning, Tribal Data Solutions, Tribal Managed Services, Instant Library, Foundation Software Solutions and Tribal Asset Management are now delivered under the Tribal Technology brand. Longer term, Tribal Technology plans to become a £100m IT and information management division of the Tribal Group plc.

Also part of the division are learning technology specialists, Aldcliffe Computer Systems Ltd and SITS Ltd, and learning delivery companies Tribal Hubs Ltd and Virtual Learning Solutions Ltd.

Chief Executive of Tribal Technology, Jim Chambers, explains, "The creation of Tribal Technology enables us to offer clients additional resources and complementary specialist services to enhance existing offerings."

Jim adds, "Tribal Technology aims to be the partner of choice for IT and information management solutions. As well as benefiting from the economies of scale offered by a larger organisation, we’ve also ensured that the structure of the business will be nimble enough to retain the flexibility and responsiveness of a small company through autonomous, entrepreneurial, business leaders who will head up key areas of the business.

"The new arrangement will cross-share best practice within Tribal Technology and offer superlative services and products to transform public services and private sector organisations. With so many issues that organisations have to deal with today, the proposition of dealing with one provider for a range of services is an attractive one. The new company will have over 500 personnel operating from over 13 offices, giving extensive geographic coverage to serve clients across the UK. Tribal Technology’s staff are experts in supporting learning delivery and management, local government support services, libraries, records and information management services, information management systems and IT infrastructure management.

Tribal Technology works in the education, local and central government, and private sectors including transport, energy, automotive, leisure and finance. Clients include Ufi learndirect, and the RAF plus leading private sector organisations such as Virgin Atlantic, 3M Healthcare,and London Underground. 40 per cent of further education colleges, 60 per cent of higher education institutes, and over half of all local authorities have already chosen to work with Tribal Technology.
