INZO°’s Kalia Cadence makes sow farrowing stress-free

INZO° of France, a specialist in animal healthcare, has created Kalia Cadence, a nutritional supplement for farrowing sows. For proven effectiveness, Kalia Cadence is administered daily for seven days, from the time the sow enters the farrowing area until birth. This nutritional supplement, an ion corrector, improves the efficiency of the sow’s uterine muscle – farrowing is faster and more energetic, with farrowing time reduced by an average of 30 minutes.

[ClickPress, Wed Mar 01 2006] INZO° of France, a specialist in animal healthcare, has created Kalia Cadence, a nutritional supplement for farrowing sows.

Kalia Cadence was launched in France at the Space 2004 international trade fair and, in just one year, has been used to treat more than 100,000 sows. It provides the sow with calcium in a form that is particularly easy to digest, boosting milk production and improving the sow’s digestion. Kalia Cadence also helps to limit manual intervention, thus reducing the risk of pathological conditions in breeding stock. Furthermore, due to the shorter farrowing times, Kalia Cadence reduces the monitoring time involved for pig-farmers.

Kalia Cadence results in stronger, more vigorous piglets that are less affected by the farrowing process and which feed on colostrum more easily, with a 15% increase in average daily gain (ADG) over 24 hours, according to the 2005 results of the INZO° Applied Zootechnical Research Centre. Joint experiments conducted by INRA (French National Institute for Research in Agronomy) and INZO° (Innovation in Nutrition and Zootechnics) on electrolyte-balance monitoring for sows during the farrowing period, as well as studies carried out by the INZO° testing network, have provided scientific evidence of the effectiveness of the supplement.

Kalia Cadence comes in powder form and is sold in 12.5-kilogram buckets. The measuring scoop provided makes it easy for farmers to use the product directly on site. Kalia Cadence is administered in doses of 50 grams to 75 grams per day for seven days, starting when the sow enters the farrowing area. The product has a shelf life of 18 months from the manufacturing date.
